Am I losing interest in cosplay?

Hello there Potatots~

It’s almost the end of February and a happy Lunar New Year to all of you. May the year of the doggo bring everyone prosperity and good fortune. As the title says, am I losing interest in my all-time most dedicated hobby, cosplay?

The answer is maybe, the cosplay community is getting really toxic here in Malaysia; I’m not sure about other countries. It is hard for me to enjoy this supposed drama and politics free hobby. Cosplay is a hobby for all of us to enjoy regardless our age, gender, race and what not. Now, cosplay is about being popular and pretty. What’s the point of being who we are in cosplay with all these judgmental people telling us what we should or should not do? I personally had a few criticism guilt along the way, but I am sincerely changing for the better. And I also see my friends letting their ego eat them after being acquainted with a group or mentors that have more experience.

For now, I am just taking things slowly after the one-year cosplay break that I took last year,  observing how the community work is far more interesting to be involved directly with the toxicity. I’m also limiting myself to not cosplay at all or just fulfill planned cosplay with friends prior to an event or convention. Not going to lie, I am way more invested in my merch collecting at the moment.

So what is your experience with the cosplay community around you? Share yours in the comments~ ❤

The Dark Side of Fandoms

What is Fandom? According to Urban Dictionary and Wiktionary the meaning of fandom defined as a community surrounding a specific fandom. A fan is not limited to be in JUST one fandom, they could be in lots and lots of fandom. Including myself, I am in many fandoms. Not just Anime fandoms, I am also part of the Western fandom like Supernatural, Sherlock, The Flash, Arrow etc. How toxic a fandom could get? The answer, VERY TOXIC.

The anime fandom is filled with toxic gas, and I had observed quite a lot of popular big shots like Bleach, Naruto has many cancerous fans there. Normally, we would ignore these kind of fans due to they are being immature and childish over the authors’ decision to their beloved characters. Yes, we all have the rights to be angry. I admit, I was pretty much angry at Tite Kubo’s choices for Bleach, but I suck it up and accepted his choice. Cause, there is no point to be angry about something when the internet has the magical realm called FANFICTION, DOUJINSHI (Fan comics) and FANART.

Moreover, even in the western side of the fandom; it is not always rainbow and sunshine. Remember the incident from the Steven Universe Fandom? (I have no intention to hurt anyone, but merely stating a fact) The artist drew some plus sized character a little bit skinner and the whole fandom went into a war zone. Artists have the rights to draw their beloved character freely, fat shaming or not. IT IS JUST ART! Bullying a fan is just showing on HOW TOXIC a fandom could be. I know not all fans of various fandoms are like that, be careful on your choice of words on the internet. Once it up there, it will be there forever.

Recently, Tokyo Ghoul Fandom experienced the same fate as Bleach; the author decided to mash up two characters together to be the canon pairing. Touka and Kaneki, it is somehow a double edged sword, It is very predictable that those two would be together, and the downfall would be unhappy fans. Sheesh, the fire was so intense that it went on for a few days. Worst of all, fans demanded Ishida Sui to commit suicide. EXCUSE ME?! THAT IS TOO MUCH FOR A NO BRAINER FANS TO DO! It is very immature to think that way to channel your anger; the author has THE RIGHTS to choose what kind of story they want to bring out. Throwing tantrums and boycotting them WILL NOT DO ANYTHING GOOD! As I mentioned, Fanfic and fanarts exist for a reason; that reason is too let fans channel their ideal pairing into a world that is their own imaginations. Getting angry with the author will not do any good to both parties.

Lastly, there are ways for a fan to deal with choices made by the author. Fanfic, fanarts are a way to cope with it. The other is sheer denial; I personally am using this method to cope with DC’s choices with my beloved pairings. The side effect is hell. At the end of the day, fans still have their own imagination to channel their displeasure to, it is a give or take thing.

A small PSA to fans who bought merchandises or original comic books to support the authors, PLEASE do not simply throw away those things. They worked hard for them, think about their effort of getting those published. Cherish them with all your heart.

I normally wouldn’t rant like this unless it is something serious

Prince of Stride: Alternative Review

Hi guys, long time I haven’t update anything here. Even though I had been to at least 3 Cons this month. Laziness and College assignment had been keeping me from updating. Anywho, I’m giving my thoughts and rant for the recently ended ‘otome’ series, Prince of Stride Alternative. I was really hyped that in Winter 2016, there was an otome game based anime, at the first few episodes approximately, Ep 1 – 4 the story line was great; Otome based. But, the episodes after that…. It went down the drain. フル(・_・ 三・_・)フル フル(・_・ 三・_・)フル I wonder what went wrong….

The story plot was nice, typical sports anime themed. The main male lead, Yagami Riku was the typical male shounen protagonist. Hot blooded, almost at the verge to give up but didn’t. Wait… WHAT?! WHAT DOES THIS HAS TO DO WITH OTOME?! ブン( ̄ロ ̄= ̄ロ ̄)ブン Shouldn’t the main be the leading lady?! WHAT ARE YOU FUCKING WITH ME HERE DENGEKI GIRLS SIDE?! ヽ(#`Д´)ノ┌┛〃∩AhーAhーAhー  Honestly, the leading lady ~ Nana is WORST THAN Heroine-chan and Enma combined. I mean like WTF, she is so useless. The guys practically out shined her, what kind of otome game based anime is this?? (# ゚Д゚)つ〃∩ ゴルァ ゴルァ ゴルァ I’m never this disappointed ever, mind UtaPri Season 3. The casting for the male characters were good, except the story was shitty.

The only thing I enjoyed the most from this series is the music. Both the OP & ED. At least, the production company had brains. ρ(-ω-、)ヾ(゜ω゜;)ヨチヨチ The Opening was ‘Strider’s High‘ by OxT , while the Ending is ‘Be My Steady‘ by Galaxy Standard, the fictional Idol group in the series.

One of the member is voiced by Miyano Mamoru. So you can guess why the song is good

I rather play the game than watch the series for the 2nd time, no worth my time. Welcome to the Otome black list PoS.

Story: 7.5/10

Uta no Prince-sama Maji Love Revolution Rant : Return of Heavens

Warning: May contains spoilers and cursings

Okay, UtaPri just ended for me for 5 minutes already and I AM NOT happy about it. Why? Here is why…

:bulletred: HEAVENS is back and they had even more douche bags with them , they are cute though… // smacked by Camus with his book
:bulletred: The ending was a BLOODY cliffhanger , What The FARK?! YOU DON’T END IT WITH A CLIFFHANGER!!! What the hell Broccoli?! ┻━┻ ︵ヽ(`Д´)ノ︵ ┻━┻

Oh my gurd, I don’t think I’m ever graduating from UtaPri. I mean, why you bring back HEAVENS when the show itself lasted 13 episodes and have to wait for 2 years for the next season!  t(○ x t  ○)

As a loyal fan of UtaPri DO NOT give Nanami anymore pressure! Camus is already enough.

Gurd, even the official website has the news of HEAVENS as headline!!!Screenshot_2015-06-28-07-50-11 They are copying STARISH!!! Because STARISH has 7 members now HEAVENS also have 7 members!!! Nuuu!щ(゚Д゚щ)(屮゚Д゚)屮
